Achilles Tendinitis

Achilles tendinitis is an injury that is the result of overuse and degeneration of the Achilles tendon. The Achilles tendon, the largest tendon in the body, connects the calf muscles to the heel bone. Achilles tendinitis often happens when runners suddenly increase the distance or intensity of their runs.

Ankle Sprains

Ankle sprains result in movements that include twisting, turning, and rolling of the foot. These movements cause the ligaments typically on the outside of the ankle to stretch and tear. Ankle sprains can range from mild to severe, depending on how badly the ligament is damaged and how many ligaments are injured. Proper treatment is required for an ankle sprain in order to avoid long-term problems.

Bunions

Bunions are a bone deformity that forms on the joint at the base of the big toe. When your big toe angles in towards your other toes the metatarsophalangeal joint (base of the big toe) gets larger and sticks out. Bunions can be extremely painful and often are the result of wearing shoes that fit too tightly. Bunions may run in families as a result of inherited structural defects.  Treatment options depend of the severity of the bunion and the pain associated with it. Nonsurgical treatments may relieve the pressure, but in the event these treatments don’t provide relief a surgical procedure may be recommended.

Fractures

Fractures occur when the tissue of the bone is broken and is usually the result of severe impact. There are also times when the bone has not been completely broken, but there are tiny cracks in the bone surface. This is referred to as a stress fracture and is a result of repeated stress to the bone which can be from starting a new exercise program, increased training or improper training technique.

Neuromas

Neuromas occur when there is swelling in the nerve or inflammation around the nerve in the ball of your foot. The swelling can make it painful to walk on that foot. Burning pain, tingling, and numbness in one or two of the toes is a common symptom.

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain. Plantar fascia is the band of tissue that connects your heel bone to toes.  Inflammation of this tissue can be very painful resulting in stabbing pain in the heel especially in the morning.

Runner's Knee

Runner's Knee is also called patellofemoral pain syndrome and is a common ailment among runners. This term is used to refer to a number of medical conditions that cause pain around the front of the knee.

Nail Fungus

Nail Fungus (also called onychomycosis) is a fungal infection which causes the nails to become discolored and thicken. Laser treatments are a new alternative to oral or topical drugs. This method of treatment is an effective way to eliminate nail infection. The heat of the laser light kills or damages the fungal organism allowing the nail to grow normally again.
